Proposal to Replace Municipal Swimming Pool with Indoor Aquatic Center
Posted on: July 18, 2012
With the present pool facility in need of major renovations, a committee made up of city officials, Park Board members, swim team boosters, and concerned citizens has been investigating the possibility of building a multi-faceted indoor aquatic center.
After weeks of meetings and discussions, a proposal has been developed complete with architectural renderings and designs for a brand new facility to be located on the current pool site.
The proposed aquatic center would include three separate pools: a 25 meter competition pool, a zero entry children?s pool complete with spray features and play structures, and a therapy pool. Also included in the proposed project are new locker rooms including a family changing room, a raised bleacher area for swimming competitions, large glass walls to allow for plenty of natural lighting, and renovations to the current Veterans Memorial Recreation Center.
The committee is now beginning the search for funding sources. If you would like to be a part of this project please call the Mayor?s Office at (740) 633-2876.
