Closed for Labor Day…

City offices will be closed Monday September 7, 2020 for Labor Day. Sanitation pick up for Monday will be picked up on Tuesday September 8th along with the normal Tuesday route. The only day sanitation will be affected is on Monday everyone else please have your sanitation out on the normal pickup day. Thank you for your cooperation and Have a Safe and Happy Holiday…


Water meter change out.

If you currently have Martins Ferry water and have an estimated water bill in city limits or not you should have received a card in the mail like the one above. If you did not receive a card and have an estimate read can you please call 1-866-584-3846 and schedule to have you meter changed it may have got lost in the mail. If you have any questions please the Utility Office at (740) 633-6151.


Sanitation Bulletin

Starting July 1, 2020, the city will be enforcing City ordinance 935 which states you are to have no more than three (3) trash cans with lids per residence and the trash cans must be no more than 33 gallons. Each can should only have trash bags inside we are unable to pick up loose trash in cans. If you have anything extra please call the Utility Office and schedule the pick-up (740) 633-6151. Garbage bags not in cans will result in a charge of $3.00 per bag. Violation of the City Ordinance will result in fines.  If you are unable to purchase a trash can The City will do so for you for the cost of $25.00 per can to be paid at the rate of $5.00 a month. You only need to purchase cans if you do not already have cans that meet the requirements.



WASHINGTON HEIGHTS WATER SHUT DOWN..

Washington Heights which includes Ohio Street, Washington Blvd, Lee Street and Vernon Road the water will be shut off starting at 8 am on Tuesday June 2nd for repairs. Until repairs are complete. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you and your family…


Street Sweeper Runs Again…

Starting June 1, 2020 the street sweeper will be running again. Please move you cars during the appropriate times. Please be courteous and move your vehicle back within a half hour of the end time when the cars are usually only parked on one side of the street. For streets that only have one sided parking you can be ticketed if moved an hour early then the start time and not moved back within that half hour of the end time.


Grass cutting!

The city is looking for a few people to cut grass. Must be 18 years or older in good physical health and able to pass a drug and alcohol test. You must able to run a weed-eater, hand, power or riding mower and be able to edge around walks, monuments, flower beds and walls. Please print and fill out the application and return to the City Building.


Spring Clean Up June 13th 8am-12pm

Martins Ferry is holding Spring Clean up June 13th from 8am to noon in the lot next to the old city garage on 1st Street. You must provide proof of residency to be able to participate in the clean up. You must be able to unload your own load due to the current pandemic city employees are unable to help you. The City is unable to take tires, paint, monitors, TV’s, concrete, yard waste, building materials or hazardous materials. This will be on a first come basis. We will have three 30 yard boxes and two trash trucks to fill, once they are full we are done due to the landfill being closed.


HELPING FAMILIES IN NEED!

Beginning Monday May 11, 2020 the City will be handing out vouchers for Martins Ferry families in need with school aged children and senior citizens from Jacob & Sons for a packets of hot-dogs and hamburgers. You must provide your Id and phone number to get the voucher. Each family will be entitled to one voucher per week. Please call the Mayors office with your information and let us know when you are coming, we are only able to hand out 10 per day so please make sure you call (740) 633-2876. Vouchers will be able to be picked up Monday-Friday 8am-2pm. The bags of food will continue to be placed outside the City building for anyone in need.

48 hour boil order..

Due to a water break there is a 48 hour boil order for Highland Ave, Upland Heights, Zelda Ave and Beeson Road starting today April 27th at 1:30pm till April 29th at 1:30pm.
