Big Holiday Weekend Planned in Martins Ferry

Posted on: November 17, 2013

The weekend following Thanksgiving will see a major event in Martins Ferry thanks to Sgt. Beth Scales and her group of volunteers. The City will celebrate “Christmas in the Park” beginning at noon on Friday November 29th and continuing through Saturday November 30th. ?

Martins Ferry’s City Park will be transformed into a wintry scene of twinkling lights and festive decorations including a synthetic ice rink which can accommodate up to 35 people at one time. ?Along with many Food and Craft vendors, Santa Claus will also be available for pictures with children for a charge of $5. ?

The fun kicks off on Friday when the festival opens at Noon. ?The lighting of City Park ceremony will take place at 5 pm. ?At 6:30 pm, the Martins Ferry Fire Department’s Annual Christmas Parade will begin. ?This year’s parade route has been altered slightly so that it will end in front of City Park. ?

In conjunction with “Christmas in the Park” on Saturday, The Martins Ferry Chamber of Commerce will mark “Small Business Saturday”. ?Everyone is encouraged to help strengthen the community by making holiday purchases at the many small retailers located in the City. ?The Saturday festivities in the park will run from 11 am to 7 pm.

Those attending the festivities are asked to bring a canned good to help support The Bread of Life Center which helps feed the needy of our area. ?
