Grass cutting!

The city is looking for a few people to cut grass. Must be 18 years or older in good physical health and able to pass a drug and alcohol test. You must able to run a weed-eater, hand, power or riding mower and be able to edge around walks, monuments, flower beds and walls. Please print and fill out the application and return to the City Building.


Spring Clean Up June 13th 8am-12pm

Martins Ferry is holding Spring Clean up June 13th from 8am to noon in the lot next to the old city garage on 1st Street. You must provide proof of residency to be able to participate in the clean up. You must be able to unload your own load due to the current pandemic city employees are unable to help you. The City is unable to take tires, paint, monitors, TV’s, concrete, yard waste, building materials or hazardous materials. This will be on a first come basis. We will have three 30 yard boxes and two trash trucks to fill, once they are full we are done due to the landfill being closed.


HELPING FAMILIES IN NEED!

Beginning Monday May 11, 2020 the City will be handing out vouchers for Martins Ferry families in need with school aged children and senior citizens from Jacob & Sons for a packets of hot-dogs and hamburgers. You must provide your Id and phone number to get the voucher. Each family will be entitled to one voucher per week. Please call the Mayors office with your information and let us know when you are coming, we are only able to hand out 10 per day so please make sure you call (740) 633-2876. Vouchers will be able to be picked up Monday-Friday 8am-2pm. The bags of food will continue to be placed outside the City building for anyone in need.

48 hour boil order..

Due to a water break there is a 48 hour boil order for Highland Ave, Upland Heights, Zelda Ave and Beeson Road starting today April 27th at 1:30pm till April 29th at 1:30pm.

City Offices closed to the public

As of March 16, 2020 the Martins Ferry City Building will be closed to visitors amidst ongoing effects to protect our employees against this pandemic.

The Mayors office and Utility office will be closed to the public until further notice. Utility bills can still be paid using the payment slot across the street on the corner of Walnut and 5th Street using checks or Money orders (please make sure your address or account number is written on the check or envelope), also online payments can be made by accessing the link at Martinsferry.org under the utility tab or by phone (844) 329-8477. The Utility Office can be reached by calling (740) 633-6151 and the Mayor’s Office at (740) 609-3700. In case of a water emergency please call (740) 633-1378.

The police department window will be closed to all outside visitors if you need none emergency assistance call (740) 633-2121 for all emergencies please call 911.

As for City crews that are out on the road, please keep a safety distance to insure everyone’s safety if you have questions for them please call the Utility office at (740) 633-6151 and we will get you the answers you need.

Also the clean up day for April 4th is postpone we will advise you with a reschedule date when we know more.

We at the city apologized for any inconvenience this may cause you but we are doing this to keep our employees and citizens safe.

The City of Martins Ferry has taken measures to insure the safety of our employees.
Mr. Suto wants everyone to know that the water we produce is and will remain safe.  For the safety of our operators no unauthorized person will enter the water plant.

As protection to our outside crews please keep a safe distance for your and our protection, it is critical that our workforce can be protected so we can keep supplying you with the basic services.

Once again we are working in conjunction with the school to provide food to all in need at this time.

City Offices Closed Monday February 17th, 2020

The City offices will be closed Monday February 17th, 2020 in observance of Presidents’ Day. Normal hours will resume on Tuesday February 18, 2020, in case of a water emergency please call (740)633-1378 or dial 911. The sanitation for Monday February 17th will be picked up on Tuesday February 18th along with the normal Tuesday route. Mondays is the only day sanitation will be affected please have you trash out before 6 am.

This is a reminder that the due date for Rental Registration Forms is quickly approaching. The forms are due by April 20th, 2020. While there is no charge for filing the form, failure to file will result in penalties being assessed.

City Offices Closed

The City Offices will be closed on Monday January 20, 2020 in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s Birthday. Business will resume on Tuesday January 21, 2020 at 7:25 a.m. Sanitation pick up for Monday will be picked up on Tuesday January 21, 2020 along with the normal Tuesday route. Monday’s pick up will be the only one affected.
